Beer Pong for a cause

To help raise funds (while also having fun), we've put together a Beer Pong Tournament schedule for this Friday at Aces & Eights on the Lower East Side.

Here are all the details:
- $20 per person / $40 per team. A portion of this will go to charity and a portion to the winning team. Once we have a final tally of the number of teams we will update the evite to reflect to grand prize. (Obviously, more teams, higher payout.)

- Each team is responsible for filling their own cups for their respective games. We've got pitchers at at reduced price all night long ($10/pitcher, averages out to $2 a beer), so this wont be a major cost.

- You will need to confirm participation (let us know by RSVPing to this eVite) by Thursday, November 19th. This way, we will be able to make brackets before Friday

- First round will begin promptly at 9:00PM. If you whole team is not around for the start of your game, you will be DQ'ed

- If you have a partner you want to be with, let us know. If not, we'll hook you up with someone.

Here's your invitation:
Beer Pong Invitational

Of course, if you're not much into Beer Pong, we'd still love to have you join in on the fun. If you can donate to Movember, we'd surely appreciate it! We'll be taking cash donations at the bar.

Hope to see you all on Saturday!!

Brian Update 6:00p.m., November 11

Caught Brian en route to the gym to give us a quick moustache update. Here you go:

Brian mentioned that the woman at our convenience store has taken a liking to his new facial hair. I'll be sure to continue to update this situation as details become available...

Keeping it Classy

Last night Brian and I went to the Louis Vuitton Launch party at Saks (thanks to Brian’s awesome stepmom). The event was super chic and I have to say that Brian’s moustache fit right in!

After the event, we all headed to Burger Joint, where we ran into another Movember Man helping himself to a late night burger.

I forget his name now, but still wanted to give Mystery Movember Man a shout out.

Onward and upward!

Great Purchase

What a gorgeous weekend it was! Brian and I decided to take a super long walk on Saturday and while cruising through the West Village we found this cool little tee shirt shop. The purchase:

Brian's looking forward to showcasing this ready-to-wear piece at a charity event (we're working out details now).

Get excited!

Good Morning Sunshine! (Moustache Update)

DISCLAIMER:  This post and photos were all taken pre-7:00AM this morning. Apologies for bad formatting, poor spelling and if you're seeing some sleepy eyes, it's probably because we're sleepy!)

Happy Friday!

This morning was a momentous morning -- Brian shaved off the beard and laid the foundation for the moustache to come. With 4 days under his belt (M-Th) and the fifth day upon us, I think we're all pretty happy with the results.

See for yourself:

And for some zoom action:

We have some serious shadow here, folks. Good Job Brian!

Heading into the weekend. Brian's moustache and I will be watching the Gator game with one of Brian's old UF roommates, Steve (who's in town from ATL). Beers will be in order. A moustchace will continue to grow.

Laura’s Favorite Looks

Last night we began to decide what style ‘stache best fit’s Brian’s face. The debate was short lived as we decided the best bet was to get some length and then work on styling. With that said, I thought I should post some of my favorite moustaches of the past, styles that I would be proud for Brian to emulate.

Here’s my collage of great ‘staches:

Looking at them, they’re similar. I guess I’m a traditionalist.
Let’s see what Brian decides on as the month continues…

Inspiration

My family is known for three things: perfectly coiffed facial hair, nice cars and charm...this photo illustrates all points. Below is my inspriation: my dad circa 1978. Much like a girl trying to get fit for bathing suit season, this photo will hang upon my fridge as a daily motivation.

Movember Day 1 on the UES...

After an evening of Halloween tricks and treats, Sunday marked the beginning of Movember!

This photo was taken later in the day...that isn't a shadow you are seeing above the lip line, it is actually the first roots of what will soon be a full 'stache.

Day 1 brought with it a Yankee win, a Dolphins win and a Rangers win...it looks like the mo is already bringing good luck! Stay tuned for World Series win Mo photos...

All the Background You Care to Know

It’s probably worth explaining what this whole Movember thing is about. If you’re visually oriented (and have speakers), I suggested watching the YouTube clip which will explain everything Movember.

Here's the clip:

For those who don't have speakers, or rather read, here's everything you wanted to know about Movember and what we're out trying to raise $$ for.

What is Movember?
Movember is an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men’s health issues - specifically prostate and testicular cancer.

How’d Movember begin?
The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The guys behind it joked about 80s fashion and decided it was time to bring the moustache back. In order to justify their Mos (Australian slang for moustache), they used their new looks to raise money for prostate cancer research… never dreaming that facial hair would ultimately lead to a global movement that would get men talking about a taboo subject – their health.

Who gets involved?
A Mo Bro starts Movember – the month formerly known as November – clean shaven, and grows a moustache all month long, garnering support from friends and family in the form of donations. What’s more, a Mo Bro is a walking billboard for the cause as his new look opens the door for him to talk about cancers affecting men – making the moustache a symbol, much like the pink ribbon is for breast cancer. While growing a Mo is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (women who support their guys) form an important part of Movember by recruiting Mo Bros, helping to raise funds and attending the highly anticipated Gala Partés.

Where does the $$ raised go?
This Movember, the money raised in the U.S. will be split between the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation will use the money raised by Movember to fund research to find better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation will use the money raised by Movember to fund:
- the LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance program which has the goal of improving survival rates and quality of life for young adults with cancer between the ages of 15 and 40.
- research initiatives to further understand the biology of adolescent and young adult cancers.

How much has Movember raised thus far?
To date, Movember has raised $47 million globally making it the world’s largest charity event for men. Significantly, awareness of men’s health issues has improved with Movember helping to spread important health messages directly to millions of Mo Bros & Sistas around the world.

Have we convinced you to donate yet? If so, here's a link to our donation page. I should mention, your donation is 100% tax deductible -- rock on!

Starting Fresh – November 1

One of the very few rules to participate in Movember is that you start November 1st with a clean shaven face, growing your ‘stache for one month’s time only. So, without further ado, here’s November 1 proof:

Brian’s face, clean as a whistle.
